The cast for Mikael Hafstrom’s adaptation of Matt Baglio’s novel The Rite has increased threefold with the addition of Alice (Repo Men, Predators) Braga, Ciaran (The Eclipse) Hinds, and Toby (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) Jones.
Variety has confirmed the trio will be joining the previously announced Anthony Hopkins and Colin O’Donoghue in Hafstrom’s take on Michael (Queen of the Damned) Petroni’s screenplay. Hopkins will play an expert in exorcisms while both Hinds (pictured) and Jones will portray priests.
The Rite centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces.

Alice Braga, Mickey Rourke and Vincent Cassel are set to star in 11 Minutes, an adaptation of the steamy Paulo Coelho novel that will be directed by Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now), says Variety.
Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari is producing, with Craig J. Flores and George Waud as executive producers. Shooting begins June 1 in Brazil and Geneva.
Braga plays a naive girl who is betrayed by her first lover and swears off romance. She becomes a high-priced call girl who works at an upscale gentlemen’s club in Geneva. Cassel plays a music executive who gets her hooked on S&M. Rourke plays the club owner.
Italian heartthrob Riccardo Scamarcio is in talks to round out the cast.
Abu-Assad has rewritten a script by Marcos Bernstein.

Wednesday night, fashion designer Carlos Miele launched a series of t-shirts designed by celebrities and fashionistas to directly benefit the Rainforest Foundation. Those lending their personalized touches to the green-themed tees included Scarlett Johansson, Camilla Belle, Michael Roberts, Diana Picasso, and Alice Braga.
100% of the proceeds from the launch party will benefit the conservation organization — which was founded by rocker Sting and his wife Trudie Styler back in 1989. Said Miele of the effort, “I’ve liked the work of the Rainforest Foundation for a long time. I think Sting was a visionary when he came to Brazil and he was really concerned about Amazonia and the rainforest. For me, it’s great to support this foundation.”

The site Joblo.com has a short interview with the director Francis Lawrence, done during the Comic-Con, about a I Am Legend sequel. According to Lawrence, a new Legend movie is in the works, but would be a prequel, not a sequel. And Will Smith is all for returning as Robert Neville, so this would probably mean no Alice Braga.
